The Weekend Collection Of Fukrey Returns Makes It An Unexpected Superhit
It’s safe to say that Bollywood hasn’t had the best of years in 2017. Most films with high stakes have failed miserably at the box office. On the other hand, many smaller films have had an admirable run, with films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Newton working well with the masses.
And that trend seems to continue with Fukrey Returns. The film, which released on 8th December, collected Rs 8 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 11 crore and Rs 12.65 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively taking the total collection to Rs 31.65 crore nett so far at the domestic box office, according to BoxofficeIndia.com.
Taran Adarsh seems to be agreeing with these figures, as he says the film has made 32.20 crores in its first three days.
And #FukreyReturns has a REMARKABLE opening weekend… Crosses ₹ 30 cr mark… Expected to cross *lifetime biz* of #Fukrey [₹ 36.50 cr] on Day 4 [Mon], as per current trending… Fri 8.10 cr, Sat 11.30 cr, Sun 12.80 cr. Total: ₹ 32.20 cr. India biz.

What is even more impressive is the fact that the total budget of Fukrey Returns was 30 crores, so whatever amount the film makes in the upcoming days, will be a profit to the producers.
Fukrey Returns is the sequel to Fukrey (2013) which was a sleeper hit. The formula seems to have repeated itself with the sequel. Let’s hope the success of this film spawns another sequel, as we just can’t have enough of this boy gang!
