South Indian Child Stars Who Hold A Special Place In Our Hearts, Where Are They Now?
South Indian movies were always extra special if they had the cute and super adorable child artists in them. These child actors made sure we never forgot them even after 20 years. They enjoyed a life much different from a regular child. While some of these kids continued to lead the life of an actor there were many who chose to walk away.
So, here are a few south Indian child stars from the early 90’s to early 2000 who hold a special place in our hearts. Let’s find out what they have been up to.
1. Baby Manjima/ Manjima Mohan
Baby Manjima came into the Malayalam film industry at a time when fans missed their favorite child stars – Baby Shalini and Shamili. The chirpy little girl pretty soon made a place in the heart of the audience with her adorable performance in movies like Priyam and Madhuranombarakattu. She earned the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist for her performance in the movie Madhuranombarakattu. She also hosted the show for children called Hai Kids which became an instant hit. As she grew older, Manjima chose to stay in the industry and made her debut as a lead actress in the movie Oru Vadakkan Selfie (2015) opposite Nivin Pauly. Her other movies include Mudi Sooda Mannan (Tamil), Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (Tamil).
2. Baby Shalini/Shalini Kumar
Undoubtedly the most loved child artist in Malayalam cinema was Baby Shalini. There was always something special about her. Baby Shalini made her debut at the age of three. Impressive, right? But what was even more impressive is that for her debut film she won the Kerala State Award for a Child Artist!
Once she grew up she acted in many blockbuster Malayalam and Tamil movies like Aniyathi Praavu, Niram, Alaipayuthey. Baby Shalini is now known as Shalini Kumar since she married the Kollywood heartthrob Ajith Kumar who is lovingly called Thala by his fans. They have two kids now and Shalini leads a happy life as a mother and wife.
3. Baby Shamili
Baby Shalini’s sister Shamili may not have achieved the same level of popularity as her sister but she is best known for her role as the mentally challenged kid from the Mani Ratnam movie Anjali. For her incredible performance, she received the National Award. She is now all grown up and has acted in a lot of South Indian movies like Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti and Veera Sivaji.
At the age of 8-9 years, Shravya has acted in many Telugu movies like Allu Arjun’s Arya, Jagapathi Babbu’s Sandhade Sandhadi. All grown up now, Shravya acted as the lead in Love You Bangaram, Pagiri among others
