With Padmavati’s Ghoomar, You’ll Fall In Love With Deepika & Her Rajputana Grace
Padmavati’s Ghoomar Song Show’s Her Dedication And Aces The Traditional Folk Dance.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to be a strict director. He is the perfectionist and his films speak that and transport us to their world. Be it Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, or Bajirao Mastaani, his films have impressed the audience and the critics alike.
While Padmavati is bearing the brunt of the controversies by the certain set of communities, the movie (trailer, posters and song) has left us spellbound.
The movie has just released the first song of the movie, and boy, we absolutely loved it! She’s put a perfect blend of feeling the dance and yet being the Rajput Queen that she is!
According to Hindustan Times, Deepika talked about how challenging the dance form was, “I started preparing for this film and character several months before we started filming. But it was for the Ghoomar song [sequence] that I walked onto the set as Padmavati for the first time.”
“The shooting of the film began with this song, and I’ll never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. I could feel her presence; and, in fact, I still do. It’s one of those rare moments in an actor’s life where it’s going to take a very long time before it actually leaves the system,” Deepika added.
Ghoomar is a traditional dance form performed by princesses and queens of Rajasthan and its moves spell grace and elegance. It involves twirling in circles and coordinated hand movements and footwork. Ghoomar is also performed by new brides when they are welcomed into their marital homes.
The song has been composed by Bhansali and sung by Shreya Ghoshal.
