10 Bollywood Movies That Would’ve Been Better With Different Lead Actors
Most Bollywood actors and actresses are typecast. There are ‘hot’ ones, the ‘talented’ ones, the ‘villains’, and very few are versatile enough to fit into all kinds of roles. But when an actor from one category is placed in another, the result is a terrible movie with miscast actors. Here are a few such movies that made stark casting errors:
#1. Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Harry Met Sejal
He may either be too aged to pull off the young character or too romantic to be a casanova, but SRK definitely did not impress in this movie alongside the much younger actress Anushka Sharma.
#2. Saif Ali Khan in Cocktail
While Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty were apt for their roles, maybe a young actor should have starred alongside them in this romantic drama, rather than the aged star.
#3. Katrina Kaif in Raajneeti
She sizzles in item numbers and even impresses when paired opposite actors like Salman Khan and Sidharth Malhotra, but her role is this political drama was widely criticized and rightly so.
#4. Sridevi in Mom
The thriller of the year starred the veteran actress in the lead role, but the role would have been much better suited for an industry regular, not too conscious to be on big screen again.
#5. Salman Khan in Tubelight
There’s a lot Salman can do, according to his movies. But playing someone other than ‘Bhai’ is not one of his best talents. Even die-hard fans did not enjoy this film where he plays a feeble character.
#6. Akshay Kumar in Desi Boyz
Akshay is one of the top-rated actors in the industry today, churning out superhit after superhit. But casting him as ‘eye-candy’ seems unnecessary when we have many good-looking actors for the same.
#7. Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom
There was a lot of debate on the right actor to play Mary Kom. When PeeCee was chosen, many criticized the decision as the actress did not have the north-eastern features of the sports star.
#8. Kareena Kapoor in Udta Punjab
After we saw Kareena play ‘Poo’, we were convinced there was no other role suited to her. Until she played ‘Geet’. She is too bubbly to play this rather serious character in the black-comedy crime film.
#9. Karan Johar in Bombay Velvet
KJo might be a villain among his peers, but he is certainly no match for an on-screen baddie. He should stick to gossip talk shows or stay behind the camera than in front of it.
#10. Shahid Kapoor in Badmaash Company
He was the perfect chocolate boy of Bollywood, but tried to establish a ‘cool’ image with his crime-comedy, in which he failed miserably. He did find his ‘cool’ with Haider, and later, Udta Punjab.
