These Are The Most Awaited Bollywood Biopics Expected To Release In 2018
Biographies have become Bollywood’s latest indulgence. While there were many critically-acclaimed biopics that released in 2016 including Neerja, Dangal, and Dhoni: The Untold Story, in 2017 there were only a few biopics like Haseena Parkar, Indu Sarkar, and Daddy. Next year biographical films are making a big comeback to Bollywood, and these are some of the most-awaited Bollywood biopics of 2018.
While previously expected to release in December, Padmavati, the epic period drama about Rani Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, is now set to release in 2018.
Akshay Kumar will be playing the role of Tamil Nadu-based social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. Padman is set to release on 26 January.
#3. Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran
Starring John Abraham and Diana Penty, Parmanu will tell the story of the nuclear bomb test explosions that the Indian Army conducted in Pokhran in 1998.
#4. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
The Indian epic biographical film will be about India’s most famous warrior queen who fought against the British with Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.
#5. The Accidental Prime Minister
A political biopic about Manmohan Singh who served the prime minister of India from 2004 to 2014 will star Anupam Kher as the prime minister.
#6. Untitled Sanjay Dutt Biopic
One of the most awaited films of 2018, this tell-all biopic on the actor will have Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of Sanjay Dutt.
Akshay Kumar is set to portray one of the most famous legends ever in the Bollywood music industry – Gulshan Kumar.
Another biopic from Akshay Kumar set to release in 2018 is Gold. The film will cover the first gold medal won by India in the 1948 London Olympics with Akshay playing the role of the hockey player Balbir Singh, who led the team to victory.
