[WATCH] In This 2010 Interview, Amitabh Bachchan Shares His Opinion On The Film Boom

Amitabh Bachchan has an enviable filmography. There’s no other actor with as many great films to his credit, than Big B. But Boom will hardly rank as one of his best works.

The 2003 film based on the underworld-showbiz nexus was badly received. People had taken objection to a lot of the scenes in the film, which were sexual in nature. Amitabh Bachchan was especially criticized for his portrayal of an aging-yet-horny don.

Amitabh had publicly apologized for doing Boom, in 2003. And since then, he never really spoke about the film. But in this 2010 interview with film analyst Komal Nahta, he speaks about Boom, and what he thinks went wrong with the film.

From the interview, it is obvious that Big B wanted the film to be a little more subtle than it was. In his own words, Amitabh wanted a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ approach to a sexualised subject. But that was obviously not the case. Amitabh further says that he does not regret doing any movie in the past, be it Boom or Nishabd or Ramgopal Verma Ki Aag.
