7 Times Bollywood Actors Turned Down Iconic Roles And The World Is Better
You will agree with us when we say that there is absolutely no one other than Paresh Rawal you would imagine as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte and Amitabh Bachchan will always be the Shahenshah. Had some other actor at that time agreed, things would have been really different. Here are seven times in Bollywood when actors turned down iconic roles and we have to thank them for that.
#1. Shah Rukh Khan not in and as Munna Bhai
SRK was first approached by Rajkumar Hirani for this role. While SRK’s comic timing is quite decent, we cannot imagine anyone else other than Sanjay Dutt distributing Jaadu ki Jhappis.
#2. Salman Khan turned down Chak De! India
We all know how inspiring the ‘sattar minute’ speech from this movie was. Now imagine Salman Khan doing this speech. Somehow the impact doesn’t seem as much.
#3. Hrithik Roshan turned down Dil Chahta Hai
Dil Chahta Hai is the reason that we want to go on road trips with our friends and while Hrithik Roshan got his own version of this movie, we are so glad he refused to be a part of the original.
#4. Katrina Kaif didn’t want to be a part of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela
While we might not imagine anyone other than Deepika playing the role of vivacious Leela, things would have been really different had Katrina Kaif accepted this role.
#5. Saif Ali Khan said No to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
And perhaps that is one of the contributing reasons to the movie’s success even today.
#6. Akshay Kumar refused Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Akshay Kumar is a versatile actor and he literally can do anything. But we are glad he didn’t take this one up. The youth factor that was required could have only been satisfied by Farhan Akhtar.
#7. Kareena Kapoor Khan turned down Fashion
Kareena Kapoor Khan has probably turned down a huge number of films. She not only declined the lead in Fashion which later starred Priyanka Chopra and was an immense hit but also the role of Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Doesn’t this make you believe that some things are just meant to be? Do you beg to differ? Tell us in the comments below.
