7 Odd On Screen Jodi’s Of Bollywood
Those were the days when casting predictable on-screen couples was something that the directors would go for in order for their film to do well at the box-office. It is pretty evident that the audience cannot get enough of Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol, Akshay – Katrina or Ranbir – Deepika. The B-town fans have been looking forward to seeing pairs which will intrigue the audience and keep up the freshness of romance and drama in films.
Looks like bringing together odd couples is becoming a popular formula in Bollywood. The current bunch of film-makers is ready to experiment with different aspects in their movies and hence this leads to casting odd on-screen couples. Let’s take a look at such odd on-screen couples that we saw in the past.
1) Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan in ‘The Dirty Picture’
Apart from the age gap, the audience at first thought it was a weird jodi but the two powerhouses of talent managed to win the hearts of many through their on-screen chemistry.
2) Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan in ‘Nishabd’
A huge age gap between the two but nonetheless, they tried their best as a couple on screen but failed to impress the audience.
3) Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat in ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’
Rahul was paired opposite Mallika which seemed quite odd to us. Surprisingly, the on-screen couple did a good job and so did the film. Rahul Bose gave his best but pairing him opposite Mallika Sherawat was not really a good idea.
4) Govinda and Katrina Kaif in ‘Partner’
One of the most talented and entertaining actors, Govinda won praises for his role in this film. This is probably one of the most mismatched pairing we could come across but they still managed to impress us and their pairing worked wonders for this film. While we all know that Govinda is one of the best that Bollywood has seen, the Katrina-Govinda jodi had a huge age difference and this made it look odd.
5) Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in ‘Karthik calling Karthik’
This on-screen pair was quite odd too but regardless they looked good together in the film. Even though the film did not do well, it still gave us another odd on-screen pair to add to the list.
6) Nawazuddin and Amy Jackson in ‘Freaky Ali’
The film based on Golf saw a very odd on-screen couple, Nawazuddin and Amy. There is no doubt that the two are brilliant actors but casting them as a couple is a bit too odd. Considering the fact that Nawazuddin is know for playing notorious characters on screen, he was paired opposite Amy Jackson, known for her on screen romance. This mismatch itself was very odd.
7) Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan in ‘Piku’
Although they did a splendid job in this film, we still think that this was a non-regular on-screen pairing and hence makes them an odd on-screen Bollywood jodi. Deepika has always been paired opposite young stars, and we have seen the elder Irrfan play serious roles in movies. This unexpected on-screen pairing made this jodi a bit odd for the audience.
