7 Bollywood Movies that Went Below the Belt
Bollywood has evolved with time and has been exploring genres of cinema other than romance and masala. While there have been many female oriented movies, art cinema and the typical masala entertainers, the last few years have seen a significant increase in movies that revolve around issues..ahem..below the belt. Be it constipation or sperm donation, the lower half of the body is where these issues come from, even IRL. Let’s have a look at the most famous ones:
Toilet – Ek Prem Katha
With a name similar to Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is also about a separated pair, but not because of religion or partition, because of a toilet…or the lack of it. A very important message spread across through a movie, Toilet makes it to the top of this list.
Piku is a very sweet story of a father-daughter relationship where the father is obsessed with his excretory system. So much so that he dies the same day he takes a satisfying dump. Talk about aakhri ichcha.
Guddu Ki Gun
An out-of-this-world idea, Guddu Ki Gun is about a womanizer. He is cursed with a gold penis by the father of one of the girls he has an affair with. The curse will break only if he marries his soulmate and stays loyal to her. The twist being his soulmate is an average looking girl, unlike the ones he has affairs with.
Phullu was about a good-for-nothing man who had no idea about menstruation until he gets married. As soon as he gets to know about it, he starts to find a solution for all the discomfort faced by the women of his village went through. It is a small film with a big message about menstrual hygiene.
Akshay Kumar’s next movie with a social message is inspired by the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham. He is a social entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu who, in spite of all the difficulties, started a venture to provide sanitary napkins to poor women, especially from the rural areas.
The impotency rate in men is increasing with every passing day due to the stressful life. Vicky Donor revolves around Vicky who has a surprisingly high sperm count and helps other couples with IUI & IVF by donating his sperm. Everything goes great until he decides to get married.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is the next release that falls into the below-the-belt category. The movie revolves around the issue of erectile dysfunction and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, but unlike Vicky Donor, he is the one suffering from it in this movie.
These movies were fun, especially because of their storyline. Bollywood must keep them coming (pun intended, obviously).
